About

CostFAQ is an independently operated Canadian price-research website. We help readers compare difficult-to-understand service prices without pretending that unlike quotes are the same.

Most observations are focused on the United States and shown in US dollars unless a page states otherwise. Actual prices vary by location, provider, timing, materials, taxes, fees, condition, and service scope.

Our Original Data Product

The CostFAQ Verified Price Data explorer publishes individual provider observations instead of hiding the evidence behind one national average. Each record preserves the provider, location, review date, price type, unit, service scope, included work, exclusions, and original public source. Readers can filter the data, inspect scope differences, open the source, and download the visible records as CSV.

How We Work

The CostFAQ Editorial Team reviews provider price lists, public rate cards, provider PDFs, industry research, and other relevant sources. We distinguish advertised starting prices from exact prices, averages, and ranges. When a source changes, a new observation is added rather than silently rewriting history.

AI may assist with organization, quality checks, and drafting, but it is not treated as a price source. A record is published only when its source, geography, unit, scope, and review date can be stated. Our Editorial Policy explains the research, update, correction, and AI-assistance standards in detail.

Corrections and Contact

Readers can report a possible error, expired price, or better source through our Contact page. Substantive corrections are checked against the cited source and recorded in the supporting data.

Publishing responsibility and scope

CostFAQ Editorial Team is the site’s publishing account, not a claim of multiple credentialed experts. The Canadian site operator is responsible for publication and corrections. No professional certification or purchased-service experience is implied.

Our current focus is helping US consumers check written service quotes. Automotive guides lead the first complete comparison workflow; home, moving, grooming and RV guides retain their service-specific evidence. AI billing guides are maintained separately because their rules change more often.

For a concrete example of our source-to-calculation process and dated material corrections, see the editorial method and correction log. Report an error through Contact.
