CostFAQ publishes practical cost guides designed to be useful, readable, and transparent. Each guide should answer the main price question near the top, identify the geography and price unit, explain the factors that change a quote, and avoid presenting estimates as guaranteed prices.
How We Research Prices
We use public price guides, provider price lists, industry research, and other relevant sources. Important figures are labeled as ranges, averages, medians, or advertised starting prices so that unlike measurements are not treated as equivalent. Broad national estimates are checked against a second independent source when practical.
Sources and methodology are listed in each guide. We record when a source was checked and review retailer-priced topics about every 60 days and broader service-cost topics about every 90 days. Local labor rates, taxes, materials, timing, scope, and provider policies can make an actual quote differ from a national estimate.
Price Updates And History
A source recheck with unchanged prices refreshes our internal review record but does not create a false history point. When a source-supported price changes materially, we preserve the earlier observation and add a new dated observation. Public price-history tables appear only after at least two comparable observations are available.
AI-Assisted Editorial Work
CostFAQ may use AI-assisted tools to organize research, compare source material, or prepare an initial draft. AI output is not treated as a factual source. Before publication or a material update, a human editor reviews cited pages, calculations, price units, wording, links, and publication settings.
Corrections And Independence
We do not publish fabricated statistics, reviews, testimonials, credentials, or citations. When we identify a substantive error, we correct the article and update the supporting record. Advertising does not determine our price estimates or editorial conclusions. If CostFAQ adds affiliate links or sponsored placements, the relationship will be disclosed clearly.
