A home-service quote is only comparable when the tasks, units and visit schedule match. Use these guides to check what you are buying before deciding which number is lower.

| Service | Critical comparison | Guide |
|---|---|---|
| House cleaning | Per-cleaner versus team hours; initial versus recurring service | Cleaning quote worksheet |
| Carpet cleaning | Room-size limits, minimums, stairs and optional treatments | Room and area comparison |
| Junk removal | Truck capacity, load fractions and included disposal | Load-size comparison |
| Pest control | Payments versus actual visits; initial and renewal totals | Treatment-plan comparison |
| Pressure washing | Measured surface, minimum charge and separate treatments | Area and minimum comparison |
| Lawn care | Growing-season visits and separately priced extras | Seasonal budget worksheet |
Prepare One Scope For Every Bidder
Describe the property, required work, access restrictions, desired schedule and optional tasks. Send the same scope to each provider. Mark each quoted line as included, extra or excluded; an empty line is an unanswered question rather than a zero cost.
Compare The Whole Amount
Use the Service Quote Calculator for minimum charges, per-visit extras and recurring totals. A minimum is generally a floor on the base amount, while a call-out fee is a separate charge if the contract says so. Do not count the same fee twice.
For example, two cleaners working three hours deliver six cleaner-hours. Twenty-six biweekly visits are not the same as two visits per month. Each guide shows the arithmetic relevant to that service, with hypothetical inputs clearly separated from published provider figures.
Where The Numbers Come From
Sources and check dates appear in the guides. A provider’s menu describes its offer; a company job average describes its own historical sample. Neither is automatically a representative national market average. Confirm the written local quote before booking. Read the research and corrections policy.
Evidence and quote tasks
Rows and exports preserve individual source dates and service scope. Tool presets use the stated billing method and leave unconfirmed charges blank.
